Business Workshop | The Industrial Design of Things – Idea to Market
Abstract:
The process of taking an IoT idea to market requires close collaboration with a large distributed network. If you are developing a product, you will need to work closely with other disciplines for a successful outcome. Through a hands-on activity that explores concept exploration, development, and prototyping, attendees will develop an understanding of the product design and development process.
Bio:
Colin Roberts is co-owner of Gibson Product Design, GPD. In this role Colin has helped commercialize products for a wide range of clients, including start-ups through large multinationals. Colin believes that great product design provides the user with a positive experience, is manufacturable, and is, of course, beautiful.
For over a decade Colin has been working as a design consult for companies that demand the best. Colin’s experience spans many different sectors such as audio, consumer electronics, sports equipment, and telecom. GPD’s award winning product designs have earned 15 CES innovations and garnered critical market success.
Colin holds a Bachelor of Industrial Design, BID, from Carleton University.
